Fourth of July Parade

Jul 05, 2015

Worthy Sir Knights:
Independence Day is rapidly approaching. Once again, the Malloy Assembly will participated in the Fairfax City Fourth of July Parade on Saturday, July 4, 2015. Please consider joining us in this very patriotic event.

Dress for Assembly parade participants is Service Regalia with swords.

This is one of the largest local parades with a total of seven divisions. The theme of this year’s parade is “Saluting Our First Responders” which is very relevant, as the First Responders World Olympics is being conducted in Northern Virginia during this same time period.

Knights participating in the parade may gather prior to the parade at Fr. Diamond Council 6292 home, 3702 Old Lee Hwy, Fairfax for donuts and coffee at 8:00 AM. The hall is located behind St. Leo The Great Church. There will be carpools to the parade route and back. For those who wish to go directly to the parade, you may enter the parade lineup area via Rt. 236/Main Street and Judicial Drive, turn left onto Page Avenue, and use Parking Garage B. Parade participants will then walk to the assembly area.

Fr. Malloy Assembly will be leading Division 2 and will thus not have to wait as long in the heat for the start of the parade. Division 2 basically follows a number of Honor Guards and the City’s dignitaries. Division 2 will assemble at 8:30 AM on Chain Bridge Road beginning at the double driveway of the Massey Building Complex. A map showing the parade route and the assembly points is attached.

After the parade all are invited to return to the Fr. Diamond Council hall for refreshments.
